When you hit a deep ball, you should be looking for an opportunity to move forward.
Don’t rush in. You are looking for the opportunity to move in.
Too often players rush in after a deep return in anticipation of the short ball. They move so far forward that they are standing exactly where the ball lands. Now you’re jammed up and back on defense.
To avoid getting jammed up, slow down and creep forward. Don’t rush in, sneak up to the net.
