Warming Up

To prepare for a tennis match or recreational play, it’s important to warm up properly.

Warm up hitting cross court. Don’t hit the ball directly to your partner. It won’t do you any good. You’re trying to warm yourself up, not your partner.

Instead, practice hitting different variations of the shots you might hit in a match. For example, once you hit a forehand well, move on to a cross court backhand, and then a backhand volley.

The magic number is one! Only move on to the next shot when you’re satisfied with the first one.

This way you’ll know what it feels like to hit a good ball before going into your match.
